So, the fluffy little Milly inspired me to make another fluffy dog: a Shetland sheepdog. this is the first animal (except a dragon before) that I made its mouth open. It was funny to make a little bent tongue and tiny teeth :) The whole dog is woolen, including the eyes, no wires inside.
I like neat work like that. Small details give the final look to the whole figure.

Hi everyone!

Recently I've got an interesting customer's order for a dog.
I'm fond of doge you know. But for unknown reasons I haven't been needle-felting dogs much. Really I don't know why.

But orders is orders! I started needling. It was hard (I know dogs' anatomy much better than that of koalas for example, so I saw every mistake I made while needling and I had to fix them). The customers' orders are always both a very hard and interesting job to do: I have to make an accurate model of a certain kind of animal as I usually do and also give it a likeness to the real customer's pet.
I tried very hard and... :)

The cat family and two koalas

After creating the humans I got tired of fine felted features like fingers and felted a lion for a change.
That turned out to be the beginning of the cat family obsession!
Here he is, the First lion. He was sold soon and I missed him so much...

And although I haven't sold him yet ;) I proceeded felting the big cats. I've already made a panther once, so I wanted to try something new. A Tiger?
That was a challenging although very interesting task! And you know... some people say this tiger is my self-portrait :) Cautious and open-hearted, curious and good.

At the same time I took an order for a koala. And I felted a nice one. Maybe too nice because my daughter refused to give it away! What could I do? - Felt another one.

The eucalyptus spray is made of polymer clay (by Deco), partly colored with acrylic paint.

Needle felted... humans?

It takes me a century to publish a new post but I'm far more productive when it comes to felting :)
So here there are my needle-felted humans:
a couple of human-like Inferno-creatures with their fire-breathing pet :)

The figures have firm wire frame inside, the Pirate is fixed to the wooden stand (pine bark). The most fine and most interesting part of work was about their faces and eyes particularly. Can you catch a glimpse of light in the eye? :)

Oh, and I made the pistol as well! I don't know why I'm proud of it so much, lol :)

As you maybe remember :) I live in Australia now. But most of my life I spent under completely different sky! So the wonder of the Southern Hemisphere took me deeply, and I never get tired of reminding myself that now I can claim the whole World to be MY home (give some room, Mr Darth Vader! :D))))

Being in that kind of mood I crafted the next pin cushion…

And the reverse side really reminds of Darth Vader :) Who else could’ve thought of cutting the Earth! :(

I promise, no one’s hurt :)

Handy-crafts women know well: every craft tool have to be useful and attractive. Beautiful things bring joy, inspiration, they help creating something new.

Maybe that’s the reason why I’ve received 3 orders for an item…

That’s a pin cushion. Actually I use the same pin cushion myself to hold my felting needles on :)

I like repetition of a good model if the customer asks for that (or for my one use). I like to see how unique every repeated item is! It’s like watching a new flower to open. You know what it’s going to look like but it’s never the same as others!

Lilies is one of my favorite flowers. I love the diversity of their appearance and the fragrance too. After all, these flowers use to blossom on my birthday month! :)

Making flowers turned out to be so fascinating, I couldn’t stop sculpting the whole day! Here are two bunches I made then…

Meadow flowers. Sweet reminder of summer days.

It was good and sad to sell the Red Kangaroo, I loved that curious little one a lot! Well, missing kangaroos in my house :) nowadays I’m felting another one… it is always a surprise what the sculpture is going to look like in the end. We’ll see.

Sometimes it's a lot of fun to make something from scratch. To find a good bulk of clay near a local river, to mix it, to create a teapot on a potter's wheel. Then to mix several glaze colors and hope they'll look similar after drying. The last but not the least is to keep 1200 degrees in the stove.

Needle felting is a popular fiber arts craft conducted without the use of water. Special barbed felting needles are used by the artist as a sculpting tool. A needle is used to sculpt the wool fiber. The barbs catch the scales on the fiber and push them through the layers of wool tangling them and binding them together. Fine details can be achieved using this technique and it is popular for 3D felted work.
